The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, received on Monday, June 20, 2022, at the House, a women's parliamentary delegation from the Chamber of Deputies of the Republic of Chile headed by the Hon. Claudia Nathalie Jimenez Mix, the Deputy-Speaker of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco until June 25, 2022.
The Chilean women's parliamentary delegation is comprised of members of the Chamber of Deputies, including Rep. Julia Lorena Monleon Fries, Rep. Helia Agueda Milman Molina, Rep. Erika Alejandra Olivera de La Fuente, Rep. Marcela Patricia Rotricia Roquelme Aliaga, Rep. Maria Mercedes Bulnes Nunes and Ms. Jacqueline Ema Cecilia Peillard Garcia, the Director of International Relations of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies.
On this occasion, the two sides acclaimed the excellent relations between the Moroccan House of Representatives and the Chilean Chamber of Deputies, stressing the significance of this meeting and the necessity to sustain the effective communication, exchange of views, and sharing of experiences and expertise, especially on constitutional issues, institutional development, women's representation, renewable energies, climate change, water, security, migration, counter-terrorism, hate speech, youth and sports. In the same vein, the talks also highlighted the responsibility placed on the parliamentarians at the national, regional and international levels to promote dialogue, understanding and coordination to address common and shared challenges.
In this regard, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami stressed the importance of exchanging visits and holding joint meetings in promoting dialogue and effective communication, and in closely observing the development witnessed by the Kingdom of Morocco, namely at the constitutional, human rights, security, energy, environmental, health, and social levels. He also reviewed the institutional development during the last decade and the representation of women and youth in various bodies and institutions, recalling the achievements made by the Moroccan House of Representatives, which enabled it to occupy a distinguished position in many continental, regional and international parliamentary bodies and organizations.
For her part, Hon. Claudia Nathalie Jimenez Mix, the head of the delegation and Deputy-Speaker of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies, welcomed the holding of this meeting and commended the open and frank dialogue that characterized it. In this respect, she stressed that the women’s parliamentary delegation of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies looks forward to exchanging experiences and expertise and getting closer to the Moroccan model in the fields of human rights, security, renewable energies, water, and the preservation of the environment, which they represent priority issues on the agenda of encounters and field visits scheduled with Moroccan officials.
In her statement to the press, the head of the delegation and Deputy-Speaker of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies noted that "the two houses have common issues that we would like to work on, especially the ones related to energy, climate change, water, and security". She further added that the talks with the speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, "were exceptional, as we touched on the experience of the two countries in terms of transitional justice and human rights, democratic and institutional development. We are satisfied with the meeting and its outcomes."
It should be noted that this meeting offered also the opportunity to exchange views on the ways to strengthen bilateral and multilateral relations at various levels; the roles of parliamentarians, and the discussion of several issues of mutual concern.
