The Position of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan about the Moroccan Sahara is clear and inalienable, and Amman unreservedly supports the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco over its entire territory.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi El Alami received on Monday, March 7, 2022, at the House, the Speaker of the Senate of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Hon. Faisal Akef Al-Fayez, and his delegation. The two parties discussed exchanging parliamentary experiences and expertise and ways to advance the bilateral economic and commercial ties between the two countries.
After exchanging expressions of gratitude and esteem between the two parties, the Speaker of the House of Representatives lauded the deep-rooted historical ties linking the two countries. In the same respect, he expressed his pride at the excellent level of the relations between Rabat and Amman, which is reflected in the convergent and identical views on several questions of mutual interest.
Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami highlighted the depth of the historical and cultural ties linking the Kingdom of Morocco to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, as well as the solid fraternal bonds linking the leaders of the two countries, His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, may God protect them. In the same context, he hailed the level of bilateral parliamentary ties, which must be promoted to preserve the gains, build upon accumulation and consolidate communication between the parliamentarians of the two countries towards further bilateral and multilateral coordination, and openness on economic, agricultural, commercial and tourism questions.
Besides, the Speaker of the House recalled the achievements and dynamism realized by the Kingdom of Morocco at the level of institutional construction, consolidation of human rights and democracy, economic take-off and the social State. In the same vein, he highlighted that the Moroccan House of Representatives has managed to occupy a distinguished position at the national level and within several regional, continental and international parliamentary organizations and assemblies, making it an institutional role model. The Speaker added that the House is willing to share its experience and expertise with its counterparts in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
For his part, Speaker of the Senate of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Hon. Faisal Akef Al-Fayez, and his delegation, focused on the authenticity of the Morocco-Jordan relations and the depth of the historical bonds linking the leaders of the two countries. He also stressed that the position of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan regarding the Moroccan Sahara is clear and irreversible, adding that Amman unreservedly supports the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco over its entire territory.
The Speaker of the Jordanian Senate lauded the bilateral and multilateral parliamentary ties, calling for further advancement through the exchange of visits, parliamentary friendship groups, the extension of commercial bridges through consolidating communication between the chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries and ensuring the implementation, evaluation and amelioration of their bilateral agreements, as well as the intensification of tourism cooperation.
The talks between the Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives and the Jordanian Senate was an opportunity where the Hon. Faisal Akef Al-Fayez and his delegation expressed their country’s willingness to benefit from the Moroccan experience in the economic and agricultural areas, water scarcity management, renewable energies, and the political level through studying the model of Moroccan constitutional and political institutions and the legal arsenal regulating elections, parties and the political participation of women and youth.
The talks served also as a chance for the Speakers of the two legislative assemblies to exchange views on several bilateral regional and international parliamentary questions.
