Speaker of the House of Representatives Receives Delegation of the U.S. Congress

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami received on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at the seat of the House in Rabat, a delegation of the United States Congress, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.

The delegation represents the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and includes: Rep. Adriano Espaillat, the Deputy Chair of the Caucus, Rep. Sylvia Garcia, and Rep. Salud Carbajal.

During the meeting, the members of the U.S. Congress commended the historical friendship ties linking the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States and affirmed the strength of partnership between them. Besides, they also expressed their admiration of the development of the Kingdom of Morocco in all areas.

The U.S. delegation shed light on the great opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in clean energies, green economy, technologies, agriculture, trade, and other areas. Moreover, they stressed the importance of solidifying consultation and exchanging experiences and expertise between the legislative institutions of the two countries.

For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives welcomed the visit of the U.S. Congress delegation and praised the quality of the long-standing ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States. In this respect, he recalled that the Kingdom of Morocco was the first country in the world to recognize the independence of the United States in the 18th century. Hon. Talbi El Alami also lauded the parliamentary links between the two countries at the bilateral and multilateral levels.

On the same occasion, the Speaker of the House gave a brief overview of the major projects launched by the Kingdom of Morocco under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God glorify him, noting specifically the evolution of the democratic practice and human rights, the advancement of women's conditions, the reinforcement of the State of institutions, the comprehensive development at the economic and social levels, the transition towards clean renewable energies, and other projects that "made the Kingdom of Morocco a model for stability and development in the region."
