The Committee on the Rules of Procedure held a meeting on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, under chairmanship of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi El Alami. The meeting featured the participation of the members of the Board of the House, the chairpersons of the parliamentary groups and caucus and the chairpersons of the Standing Committees.

The Speaker of the House initiated the meeting by stressing its prominent procedural nature, considering that this Committee is the competent organ for the reception of the amendments proposed to the Rules of Procedure and their approval according to the modalities and conditions set out in the Rules of Procedure.

The meeting was an occasion to recall the importance of the projected amendments and the necessity to agree on them, given that they organize the House’s action and reflect the image to which all the House components, both from the Majority and the Opposition, aspire.

To ensure the efficiency of parliamentary action, and following Article 69 of the Constitution, the Speaker of the House and the other Committee members emphasized the importance of coordination and complementarity with the House of Councilors during the elaboration of the final draft of the proposed amendments, prior to their referral to the plenary sitting and the Constitutional Court following the provisions of the Constitution and the relevant legal texts.
