Rep. Latifa Lablih Represents Moroccan Parliamentary Delegation in Meeting of the Network of Women Parliamentarians under the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie

As part of the participation of the House of Representatives in the 48th Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie, taking place in Tbilisi, Georgia, on July 4-8, Rep. Latifa Lablih, Chairperson of the Public Finance Control Committee and member of the Group of Authenticity and Modernity, took part, as member of the Executive Committee of the Network of Women Parliamentarians under the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie, in the meeting of the Network on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. The meeting featured the participation of women parliamentarians from the national representations of the member States of the Assembly.

At the onset of the meeting, Ms. Chantal Soucy gave a brief overview of the main activities the Assembly undertook from March to July 2023.

The meeting also featured the presentation of the draft report on the protection of women and girls amidst armed conflicts, the final report on the provision of women and girls with menstrual cycle products and the proposed solutions to preserve women's sexual health, and the draft report on cross-border women and girls trafficking in the Francophone region, in addition to the follow-up of the implementation of the international pledges on gender equality and women's rights.

In her intervention during the meeting, Rep. Latifa Lablih shed light on the various legislative and legal initiatives adopted by the Kingdom of Morocco to combat human trafficking, including Law 27.14 on combating human trafficking, adopted by the Parliament in 2016. This Law equipped the Kingdom with a legal arsenal and a comprehensive framework to combat all types of human trafficking. In the same respect, she noted that the Kingdom of Morocco created a National Committee in Charge of Coordinating the Measures to Combat and Prevent Human Trafficking, formed under the Cabinet of the Head of Government and whose Chairing and secretariat general are entrusted to the Ministry of Justice.

Rep. Lablih commended the initiative of the said Committee in adopting the 2023-2030 National Strategy to Combat and Prevent Human Trafficking and the 2023-2026 National Strategic Action Plan.

It should be noted that the House of Representatives hosted the latest meeting of the Network of Women Parliamentarians under the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie on March 1-2, 2023, out of the conviction of the importance of advancing women’s conditions and enhancing their participation in the political, economic, social, and cultural life at the national and international levels.
