Slovenia considers Morocco a “friend and partner country with whom we share several common values and aspirations to peace, prosperity, and mutual understanding,” noted on Monday the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, Hon. Urška Klakočar Zupančič.
“I am pleased that Slovenia considers Morocco a friend and a partner with whom we share several common values and aspirations to peace, prosperity, and mutual understanding,” said Hon. Zupančič during her talks with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, currently on a visit to the Republic of Slovenia.
She also noted that said talks served as an opportunity to underscore “the excellent relations” uniting Morocco and Slovenia and the intensification of cooperation between the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco and the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia.
In the same respect, the Slovene Official recalled the memorandum of understanding concluded by the two institutions during her visit to Morocco in November 2022, noting that this memorandum reaffirms “our commitment to reinforce relations and promote dialogue between our two legislative institutions.”
The talks with Hon. Talbi El Alami were also an occasion to highlight the importance of the joint declaration signed last June in Rabat by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, and the Slovene Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Tanja Fajon, continued Hon. Zupančič, adding that this declaration established the basis for future cooperation between the two countries in several areas, particularly culture, education, science, business, energy, environment protection, and green technologies.
She also underscored that the talks served as an opportunity to stress the importance of continuous dialogue between Morocco and Slovenia on security and migration, reaffirming the shared commitment of the two countries to reinforce cooperation in the fight against irregular migration.
“I am convinced that Slovenia and Morocco will keep anchoring dialogue on the questions of mutual concern at the regional and international levels,” she noted, underscoring that parliamentary diplomacy plays an essential role in this respect.
During these talks, the Speaker of the House of Representatives was accompanied by the Ambassador of Morocco to Slovenia, residing in Vienna, H.E. Azzeddine Farhane.
