Speaker of the House of Representatives Holds Talks with Speaker of the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, held talks on Friday, December 6, 2024, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Hon. Mohamed Bamba Meguet, currently leading a prominent parliamentary delegation on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.

During the encounter, the two parties commended the distinguished historic ties and strong bonds uniting the two brotherly countries, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him, and the Mauritanian President, H.E. Mohamed Cheikh El Ghazouani. 

The Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania discussed the means for reinforcing parliamentary cooperation between the legislative institutions of the two countries through intensifying dialogue and coordination and exchanging expertise in parliamentary and administrative action. They also emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in serving mutual interests and preparing to create a Morocco-Mauritania Economic Parliamentary Forum at the start of next year, which would serve as a platform for dialogue, communication, exchange of experiences, and promotion of best practices. 

The Mauritanian parliamentary delegation includes the Chairperson of the Equity Group, MP Mohamed Lemine Amar; the Chairperson of the Group of the National Rally for Reform and Development, MP Yahya Seyid Lamine; the Chairperson of the Mauritania-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group, MP Abhida Khatri; the member of the Group, MP Hamdi Hammadi; MP Siham Najem; in addition to the Assembly’s members, MP Ja Moussa and MP Chrif Sidi Ali Mohammed Limam.

The meeting also featured the attendance of the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, H.E. Ahmed Ould Bahia; the Chairperson of the Group of Authenticity and Modernity at the House of Representatives, Rep. Ahmed Touizi; and the Chairperson of the Morocco-Mauritania Parliamentary Friendship Group, Rep. Sidi Saleh Idrissi.
