Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, held talks on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Hon. Ana Brnabić, currently on an official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco at the lead of a prominent parliamentary delegation that includes the Deputy Speaker and Chairperson of the Committee on Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy, MP Snežana Paunović, and the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Kingdom of Morocco, MP Muamer Bačevac.
Attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Rabat, H.E. Ivan Bauer, the talks between the two parties covered the means for reinforcing bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two legislative institutions. The two parties also exchanged views on several questions of mutual parliamentary concern.
At the onset of the meeting, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami lauded the quality of the ties uniting the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Serbia at various levels, commending the favorable position of the Republic of Serbia regarding the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco. He also added that the autonomy plan proposed by the Kingdom as a final solution to the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara enjoys broad international support.
Besides, the Speaker of the House of Representatives shed light on the various strategic continental initiatives launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him, to advance Africa. In this respect, he noted specifically the Morocco-Nigeria gas pipeline project and the Atlantic Initiative that aims to enable the Sahel countries to access the Atlantic, as well as several agreements and projects that fall under the scope of strengthening South-South cooperation with the Continent’s countries.
In a statement to the press, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Hon. Ana Brnabić, noted that the official visit she is performing upon the invitation of the Speaker of the House of Representatives reflects the long-standing and strong friendship bonds that unite the Republic of Serbia and the Kingdom of Morocco, particularly at the parliamentary level. She also lauded the global development the Kingdom is witnessing under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah protect him.
Hon. Ana Brnabić also expressed her gratitude and thanks for the position of the Kingdom of Morocco in support of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia. In the same vein, she mentioned her hopes that her visit would contribute to reinforcing economic cooperation and noted the vital role of the two legislative institutions in this area through consolidating continuous dialogue and communication.
Hon. Ana Brnabić seized the opportunity to extend a formal invitation to the Speaker of the House of Representatives to perform a working visit to the Republic of Serbia with a view to discussing the means of uplifting the bilateral and multilateral parliamentary relations.
