Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, held talks on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Benin, Hon. Louis Gbéhounou Vlavonou, currently on an official visit to the Kingdom at the lead of a prominent parliamentary delegation.
On this occasion, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Benin, Hon. Louis Gbéhounou Vlavonou, noted that this visit aims to reinforce parliamentary cooperation between the two legislative institutions, underscoring the role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening the cooperation and friendship bonds uniting the two countries.
He also highlighted the vital role of the parliamentary friendship groups and the exchange of visits in advancing consultation and coordination between the two legislative institutions at the bilateral and multilateral levels.
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Benin also reiterated the support of his country to the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and lauded the growth of Morocco and the development it witnesses under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him. In the same respect, he described the Kingdom as role model at the African level.
For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, welcomed the visit of the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Benin and his entourage, noting that it will contribute to solidifying relations between the two countries, particularly at the parliamentary level, by means of implementing the Memorandum of Understanding the two institutions concluded in 2018.
During the talks, the Speaker of the House of Representatives expressed the readiness of the House to share its expertise and experience in parliamentary action and digitalization with the National Assembly of the Republic of Benin.
On the same occasion, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami expressed his thanks and gratitude for the unwavering and positive position expressed by the Republic of Benin in October before the Fourth Committee of the UN General Assembly, where it lauded the autonomy proposal presented by the Kingdom of Morocco as a solution to the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.
Besides, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami briefed his Beninese counterpart on the Atlantic Initiative launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah protect him, to enhance the access of the Sahel countries to the Atlantic. He also shed light on the progress achieved by our country in several fields like renewable energies, water desalination, and foreign investments.
It should be noted that the Beninese parliamentary delegation includes, besides the Speaker of the National Assembly, MP Djamilatou Sabi Mohamed, MP MOUCOURE BOKO Souley Malam, MP Charles Toko, MP VIDJINNANGNI Cossi Barthélémy Mellon, MP AMADOU DJIBRIL Labiou, and MP HOUINSA Godonou David.
