A delegation of the House of Representatives took part in the proceedings of the October Session of the Andean Parliament, held on October 22-25, 2024, in Bogota, and coinciding with the 45th Anniversary of Andean Parliament. The delegation comprised Rep. Fatine El Ghali (Group of the National Rally of Independents) and Rep. Mohammed Touimi Benjelloun (Group of Authenticity and Modernity), who are members of the National Representation to the Andean Parliament.
The Session featured active interaction of the members of the Representation who took part in the proceedings of several committees, including the Committee on Foreign Policy. On this occasion, the members of the Representation shed light on the actual situation of the Southern provinces of the Kingdom, highlighting the major development programs and investments the provinces are witnessing.
In the same regard, they underscored the crucial role of these efforts in anchoring the foundations of security and stability and countering any looming threats like terrorism and organized crime. In this respect, the members of Representation welcomed the decision of the Republic of Ecuador to retract its recognition of the phantom republic and recalled the positions of several friendly countries supporting the Moroccan sovereignty of the Sahara, namely Spain and France, as such positions hold profound historical and political connotations.
The proceedings of the plenary sitting featured an address of the Moroccan House of Representatives, given by Rep. Fatine El Ghali, who congratulated, on behalf of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, the components of the Andean Parliament on the 45th Anniversary of its establishment.
In her address, Rep. Fatine El Ghali praised the prominent role of this organization at the continental level. She also added that the accession of the Moroccan Parliament to the Andean Parliament as an observer member reflects the desire of the Kingdom of Morocco to support the integration process in which engaged Andean countries and falls within the scope of the strategic choice of the Kingdom under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to reinforce South-South cooperation.
In the same vein, she made mention of the headlines of the Atlantic Initiative through which the Kingdom of Morocco aims to exploit its strategic geographical position to extend the bridges of cooperation and partnership between the countries of Africa and Latin America.
