Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, held talks on Monday, October 14, 2024, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, with the Speaker of the Congress and the Federal Senate of Brazil, Hon. Rodrigo Otavio Soares Paheco, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco at the lead of a prominent parliamentary delegation.
During the meeting, the Speaker of the Brazilian Congress and the Federal Senate expressed his admiration of the progress and development the Kingdom has made in several areas. He also noted that his visit aims to reinforce parliamentary cooperation between the two legislative institutions and contribute to consolidating bilateral ties between the two countries through efficient parliamentary diplomacy.
Hon. Rodrigo Otavio Soares Pacheco also noted that the two countries face common challenges related to the environment and climate change. In this vein, he extended an invitation to the Speaker of the House of Representatives to attend COP30, which Brazil will host next year. He also underscored that the Kingdom is a distinguished economic partner of Brazil, noting the existence of several promising opportunities for reinforcing economic, commercial, agricultural, and tourism cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives lauded the quality of the bilateral relations linking the Kingdom of Morocco and Brazil, adding that the two countries share the same values. In the same context, he expressed his thanks and appreciation for Brazil's position in support of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco.
Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami also gave an overview of the major development projects the Kingdom is conducting under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him, noting the big leap the Kingdom has made in infrastructure, the prominent position of the Tangier-Med Seaport at the international level, and the Atlantic Seaport Project initiated in Dakhla, which would serve as a bridge for African countries towards the Atlantic ocean. The Speaker of the House also shed light on the advancement in agriculture, the efforts of the Kingdom to mitigate the repercussions of climate change, the projects of renewable energies, social protection, and other structural projects.
The encounter was an opportunity to reaffirm the willingness of the two parties to strengthen the dynamism of the two parliamentary friendship groups and bring coordination and consultation between the two countries closer at the bilateral and multilateral parliamentary levels.
The meeting featured the attendance of the Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Rabat, H.E. Alexandre Guido Lopes Parola, and the member of the Senate, Sen. Davi Alcolumbre.
