Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, received on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, the Chairperson of the Indonesia-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group, Rep. Aboe Bakar Al-Habsyi, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco at the lead of a prominent parliamentary delegation representing the various political parties of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
During the encounter, the two parties commended the depth and strength of the historical ties linking the two countries and their peoples. They also expressed their shared commitment to reinforcing the parliamentary cooperation links between the two legislative institutions, intensifying the exchange of visits, and strengthening coordination at the bilateral and multilateral levels on parliamentary questions of mutual concern.
On this occasion, the Chairperson of the Indonesia-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group, Rep. Aboe Bakar Al-Habsyi, noted that the conclusion of a strategic cooperation agreement between the two countries in 2023 reflects their anchored desire to expand and diversify the fields of cooperation, adding that Morocco is a strategic partner to Indonesia.
Besides, the Chairperson of the Indonesia-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group underscored the remarkable solidarity of Morocco and Indonesia with the Palestinian cause, hailing the distinguished role of the Kingdom of Morocco in this regard under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify him, Chairman of the Al Quds Committee.
For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, welcomed the Indonesian parliamentary delegation to the Kingdom of Morocco, lauding the level of bilateral ties between the two countries, particularly at the parliamentary level. In the same regard, the Speaker of the House underscored the importance of seizing all opportunities and chances to enhance exchange and cooperation between Morocco and Indonesia in various areas.
The Speaker of the House also thanked the Parliament of Indonesia for supporting the Moroccan Parliament in acquiring the “observer status” within the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, praising the continuous coordination and dialogue between the two legislative institutions at the bilateral and multilateral levels.
On the same occasion, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami made mention of the Atlantic Initiative launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him, with a view to reinforcing the access of Sahel countries to the Atlantic, noting that Morocco is a gate towards the African market and a substantial investment hub thanks to its diverse partnerships and economic openness.
The meeting featured the presence of the Chairperson of the Morocco-Indonesia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Rep. Abdellatif El Fouiker; the Ambassador of Indonesia to Morocco, H.E. Harsul Azwar; and the members of the Indonesian parliamentary delegation: Rep. Vita Ervina, Rep. Mufti Aimah Nurul Anam, Rep. Wenny Haryanto, Rep. Djohar Arifin Husin, Rep. Maman Imanul Haq, Rep. Netty Prasetiyani, and Rep. Guspardi Gaus.
