Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Nadia Touhami, received on Friday, July 26, 2024, in Rabat, the delegations participating in the 16th Children of Peace World Festival, organized by the Bouregreg Association until July 30, 2024, under the Honorary Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem amidst the celebrations of the Glorious Throne Day. On this occasion, Rep. Nadia Touhami gave an address on behalf of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, where she noted that the organization of this Festival under the Honorary Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem grants added value to this edition, given its symbolism, presence, radiance, and its role in reinforcing coexistence, dialogue, understanding, and exchanging civilizational and cultural virtues.
Rep. Nadia Touhami added that peace requires a constant and consistent mobilization to defend its values and that children and the new generation are at the front line of the categories concerned with guaranteeing peace and must be upbrought to its spirit, culture, and requirements.
Upon this reception, the Children of Peace made the “Call for Peace” from the Moroccan Parliament in Arabic and English, where they underscored that the time has come for the world to embrace peace, reject violence, and end the wars that generate a lot of pain and destruction.
Through their call, the Children of Peace noted their shared hope for a warless world and peaceful coexistence despite differences. They made specific mention of the suffering the children of Gaza and Palestine are going through as they live in unbearable conditions and deserve to be raised in safety, get adequate food, and live without fear of violence.
Prior to the reception, the Mohammed V Avenue of Rabat witnessed a parade of the Children of Peace in traditional attire starting from Al-Barid Square to the Seat of the Parliament where the participating delegations took commemorative photos at the main entrance of the Parliament.
The current edition features the participation of 25 delegations, including Côte d’Ivoire as guest of honor.
The festivities of this edition focus on three main axes: the performance of high-level shows and choreographies, the convention of the first conference of the Ambassadors of the Peace Festival around the world, and the utilization of artificial intelligence in the Festival.
Initiated in 1999, the Children of Peace World Festival is a unique annual event in Africa and the Arab World that seeks to promote a culture of peace between the world's children.
