Speaker of the House of Representatives Receives Delegation of the Committee on Agriculture, Lands, and Natural Resources at the National Assembly of the Republic of Zambia

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, received on Monday, April 22, 2024, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, MP. Kasautu Saiti Michelo, Chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture, Lands, and Natural Resources at the National Assembly of the Republic of Zambia, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco at the lead of a prominent parliamentary delegation. 

The meeting, attended by the Chairperson of the Morocco-Zambia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Rep. Mohamed El-Hejira, covered the means to reinforce parliamentary cooperation between the two legislative institutions, particularly regarding agriculture and other questions of mutual concern. 

Besides, the meeting was a fruitful opportunity for the two parties to shed light on the horizons of strengthening cooperation between the Moroccan House of Representatives and the National Assembly of the Republic of Zambia through exchanging experiences and expertise and coordinating within the various regional and international parliamentary fora. 

On this occasion, the Zambian parliamentary delegation expressed its desire to benefit from the Moroccan experience in agriculture, particularly the laws regulating the field, as well as the Kingdom’s efforts to address climate change, mitigate the impacts of drought, sustainable development, renewable energies, fertilizers, and other related themes. 

For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives briefed the Zambian parliamentary delegation on the deep reforms and the major development projects conducted by the Kingdom of Morocco under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him. On the same occasion, he highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts in achieving sustainable development, advancing agriculture, preserving the environment, renewable energies, addressing desertification and water scarcity, and food security. 

During their visit to the Kingdom of Morocco, the members of the Zambian parliamentary delegation will hold a series of talks with several officials. They will also perform field visits to explore the major projects the Kingdom of Morocco has launched. 

The delegation of the Committee on Agriculture, Lands, and Natural Resources of the National Assembly of the Republic of Zambia includes MP. Maureen Mabonga, the Vice Chairperson, and the Committee members: Micheal Katambo, Andrew Tayengwa, Tyson Simuzingili, Lusale Simbao, Mweemba Malambo, Yotam Mtayachalo, Ackleo Banda, and Peter Phiri.
