Talks Held between a Parliamentary Delegation from the German Bundestag and Members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives

Members of the Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs and Moroccan Expatriates Committee of the House of Representatives and a German parliamentary delegation discussed, Thursday in Rabat, ways to foster cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and Germany in various fields.

During this meeting held at the seat of the House of Representatives, the two parties discussed a series of issues of common interest, including the increase in the size of trade and investment exchanges, promotion of cultural cooperation, and the consolidation of the role of parliaments in advancing bilateral relations.

In this regard, the Chairperson of the Committee, Rep. Nadia Bouaida, stressed that the Kingdom of Morocco and Germany have the necessary assets to advance their economic relations, promote their trade and further strengthen their cooperation in various sectors. Rep. Bouaida also called for increasing efforts to advance the level of bilateral cooperation.

Highlighting Morocco's position as the leading investor in West Africa and a bridge to the African region, Rep. Bouaida called for the creation of a tripartite partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco, Germany and Africa, and a stronger partnership between the two countries, with a view to strengthening the foundations of North-South cooperation and being a role model in international relations.

In addition, the Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee called for coordination on the international scene on issues of common interest, the intensification of consultation and coordination with the Moroccan-German Parliamentary Friendship Group and for the exchange of experiences and views on parliamentary action. Besides, she stressed the role of the parliamentary institutions of the two countries in strengthening political, economic and cultural ties between them.

For their part, the members of the German delegation expressed their desire to further strengthen cooperation relations between the two countries in the economic, cultural and political fields, to meet the common challenges faced by the two countries, and to coordinate on international issues for a more secured and peaceful world.

In the same vein, the German delegation called for the promotion joint investments in renewable energies, support of new partnerships and consolidation of cultural relations between the two countries, since arts and culture play a key role in strengthening bilateral dialogue and understanding
