As part of the active contribution of parliamentary diplomacy and the consolidation of the valuable presence of Morocco in the international parliamentary arena, Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami and Speaker of the House of Councilors Naam Miyara will jointly lead a Moroccan parliamentary delegation to take part in the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s 143rd Assembly, held on November 26-30, 2021.
This session, to be hosted by the Spanish Parliament, will be marked by the participation of the Speakers of national Parliaments and delegations of the Union's member States. The session will also witness the presence of many regional parliamentary unions and organizations in their capacity as Permanent Observers.
On the same occasion, the Moroccan delegation will hold several working meetings to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the Parliaments of the participating States. The meetings aim to defend the best interests of the Kingdom of Morocco, foremost of which is the national cause, and to highlight the democratic development seen in the Kingdom. The said meetings will also focus on coordinating positions on current issues and questions of mutual interest, as well as discussing the means to implement the existing joint action programs and initiatives with the regional parliamentary unions.
This session will also adopt the new 2022-2026 IPU work strategy that focuses on priorities for action in climate change, democracy, human rights, gender equality, peace, security and sustainable development.
