Speaker of the House of Representatives Takes Part in 43rd General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami is participating in the 43rd General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) on November 20-25, 2022, in the Kingdom of Cambodia, under the following theme: "Advancing Together for a Sustainable, Inclusive and Resilient ASEAN.”

This edition examines several themes inscribed on the agenda by the Assembly's Standing Committees and speeches by the Speakers of the Parliaments of the Member States and the Parliaments that enjoy an "observer member.” The event will also feature the presentation and adoption of the Assembly’s reports before the proclamation of the final declaration.

The House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco enjoys the status of “observer member” within the Assembly, as the approval of its accession was announced during the 41st General Assembly of the AIPA, held in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi in September 2020, which is an unprecedented achievement as the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco is the only African and Arab Parliament that enjoys the membership within this Asian inter-parliamentary body. Such success is mainly due to the leading roles of the Kingdom of Morocco as a locomotive of communication and cooperation between African and southeastern Asian countries to promote security and stability and consolidate development and economic and social prosperity under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God glorify and assist him.

Taking part alongside the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 43rd General Assembly of the AIPA are Rep. Ahmed Touizi, Chairperson of the Group of Authenticity and Modernity, and Mustapha Tarfia, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Thailand.

The ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) is a robust parliamentary gathering that includes ten States: Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, the Philippines, Brunei, Laos, and Cambodia. The Assembly aims to join and intensify the efforts of its members to accelerate economic growth and achieve social and cultural development within the member States of the ASEAN.
