Speaker of the House of Representatives Receives Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Djibouti

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, held talks on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the Seat of the House, with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Djibouti, Hon. Dileita Mohamed Dileita, currently on a working visit to our country at the head of an important parliamentary delegation on July 2-8, 2023.

The meeting covered the means to consolidate parliamentary cooperation between the legislative institutions of the two countries and to exchange parliamentary experiences and expertise, in addition to other questions of mutual concern.

On occasion, the Speaker of the Djiboutian National Assembly, Hon. Dileita Mohamed Dileita, commended the long-standing fraternal relations linking the two countries. In the same regard, he noted that his visit aims to explore and mutually benefit from the Moroccan and Djiboutian parliamentary experiences, exchange and share experiences and expertise, and enhance bilateral and multilateral parliamentary relations.

Hon. Dileita Mohamed Dileita added that his visit to the Kingdom of Morocco, alongside his entourage, reflects the strength of the cooperation bonds between the two countries in all areas, particularly in politics, economy, agriculture, education, and health. In the same respect, he expressed his strong will to solidify cooperation between the two legislative institutions within the scope of parliamentary diplomacy.

For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, lauded the excellent quality of the relations uniting the two friendly countries and their brotherly peoples. In the same context, he stressed the imperative of strengthening the said relations, given the traits the two countries share and the nature of the challenges they both face.

On the same occasion, the Speaker of the House of Representatives gave a presentation of the major projects launched by the Kingdom of Morocco under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, particularly with regard to entrenching the rule of law and the State of institutions and protecting rights and freedoms.

Besides, the Speaker of the House gave a brief overview of the peculiarities of the Moroccan parliamentary experience, especially the digital transition of the House of Representatives. On this note, he shed light on several projects launched by the House, which have enabled it to digitize the archives of the legislative institution and the legislative procedure, as well as other projects linked to the e-Parliament.

Moreover, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami expressed the willingness of the House of Representatives to share its experience with the Djiboutian National Assembly by establishing a joint work program. In the same regard, he underscored the importance of giving new impetus to cooperation between the two legislative institutions.

The meeting featured the participation, from the Moroccan side, of Rep.  Hayat Oumenjouj, Chairperson of the Morocco-Djibouti Parliamentary Friendship Group. The Djiboutian side was represented by H.E. Mohamed Dahur Hersi, Ambassador of the Republic of Djibouti to Rabat, in addition to the members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Djibouti: Ms. Hebo Ali Hussein, Mr. Elias Ahmed Hassan, Mr. Mohamed Hassan Farah, as well as the Secretary General of the Assembly, Mr. Ismail Kulan Bodin.
