Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi El Alami received on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the House, the Speaker of the Arab Parliament, the Hon. Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Assoumi, and his delegation, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco to take part in the 11th Congress of the Association of Senates, Shura and Equivalent Councils in Africa and the Arab World, organized at the House of Councilors.
In his statement on this occasion, the Speaker of the Arab Parliament expressed his gratitude and esteem for the role played by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, in defending the Arab causes and the issues that concern the Arab World. In the same respect, the Hon. Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Assoumi tackled the role of the Arab Parliament as a primary defender of Arab causes, namely the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco. He further confirmed the position of the Arab Parliament in favor of the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco over its entire territory and aspired for new prospects of cooperation between the two legislative institutions.
The Hon. Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Assoumi focused on the efforts of the Arab Parliament to support Arab peoples and their interests. In the same vein, he praised the activity and significant contribution of Moroccan Parliamentarians within the Arab Parliament, calling for the consolidation of these efforts and diversification of the means of cooperation and coordination between the two institutions.
For his part, Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi El Alami welcomed the Hon. Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Assoumi and the representatives of the Arab Parliament. In the meantime, he expressed his gratitude and consideration for the positions of the Arab Parliament in favor of the Kingdom of Morocco and its territorial integrity. Besides, he extended an invitation to hold the next session of the Arab Parliament in the Kingdom of Morocco.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives underlined the engagement of the Moroccan Parliamentarians from the House of Representatives and the House of Councilors in defending Arab causes and interests, especially under a juncture characterized with several health, social and economic challenges caused by Covid-19. “Such challenges require unifying visions and efforts within international organizations to overcome the arising obstacles,” added the Speaker.
The meeting was also an opportunity to discuss ways to consolidate cooperation ties in human rights, legislation, women inclusion in politics and several other parliamentary questions of mutual interests.
