Speaker of the House of Representatives Receives Resident Country Director of the National Democratic Institute in Morocco

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami received, on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at the House, the Resident Country Director of the National Democratic Institute (NDI) in the Kingdom of Morocco, Ms. Jess Turk-Browne. The two parties discussed the relations between the two institutions, commended their achievements, and agreed on the means to consolidate bilateral cooperation.

The encounter between the two parties was also an opportunity to discuss and exchange views on the areas of partnership between the House of Representatives and the National Democratic Institute. In this respect, they focused on the relations between the two institutions, which date back to 1999, and had culminated in the conclusion of a Memorandum of Understanding on February 26, 2018. The MoU reflects the deep rooted relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America.

In their talks, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami and Ms. Jess Turk-Browne also agreed to consolidate their partnership through exchanging experiences and expertise in the areas of open Parliament and participatory democracy through petitions and motions, women's participation, and other questions of mutual concern to reinforce and advance democratic practice.

It should be noted that the National Democratic Institute is a nonprofit organization located in Washington. Created in 1983, the NDI works to support and consolidate democracy worldwide. It operates in more than 60 countries, including the Kingdom of Morocco, where it launched its actions in 1997.
