Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, held talks on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at the seat of the House in Rabat, with a delegation of the Parliament of Central America (PARLACEN), including the members of the Executive Board led by the President of the PARLACEN, Mr. Amado Cerrud Acevedo.
The parliamentary delegation is currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco with a view to consolidating the cooperation bonds linking the two legislative institutions and exploring the development projects undertaken by the Kingdom of Morocco. The delegation will also hold talks with several Morocco officials.
On occasion, the President and the members of the Executive Board of the PARLACEN commended the leadership of the Kingdom of Morocco in managing migration and expressed their desire to benefit from the Moroccan experience in this area on the horizon of regularizing the situation of migrants in Central America. They also lauded the development of the Kingdom of Morocco in several fields, including clean energies, advancing women's conditions, and democratic practice in general.
Besides, the President and the members of the Executive Board of the PARLACEN underscored the importance granted by the latter to solidifying the continuous cooperation and coordination ties with the Moroccan Parliament in several fields and questions of mutual concern.
For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, noted that the Moroccan Parliament and its Central American counterpart share the same values, face the same challenges, and have the same desire to work hand-in-hand under South-South Cooperation.
Moreover, the Speaker of the House seized the opportunity to shed light on the major projects launched by the Kingdom of Morocco, particularly the Moroccan migration policy under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God glorify him. In this respect, he stated that the Kingdom of Morocco is a role model in this field on the African and Mediterranean levels.
It should be noted that the Moroccan Parliament, in its two Houses, acceded to the Parliament of Central America as an observer member on June 16, 2015. The PARLACEN is an integration system in Central America that gathers six States: Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and the Dominican Republic.
The delegation of the PARLACEN's Executive Board includes Mr. Engels Martin Pineda García (Vice-President), Ms. Iliana Guadalupe Calles Domínguez (Vice-President), Mr. Eduardo Guerrero Solano (Vice-President), Mr. José Narciso Ramos Reyes (Secretary), Mr. Nedis Adrián Licona Reyes (Secretary), Ms. Karina Ivette Sosa (Secretary), Mr. Santiago Rodríguez Peña (Secretary), and Ms. Beatriz Herrera (Secretary of the Cabinet of the PARLACEN’s Executive Board).
