Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, received on Monday, June 5, 2023, at the Seat of the House, a delegation of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, currently on a field visit to our country on June 4-8, 2023.
The visit is part of the preparations for our country's hosting of the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, to be held in Marrakesh in October 2023. On the sidelines of the meetings, the Network will organize a parliamentary meeting for the Middle East and African countries.
During the reception, the Speaker of the House of Representatives shed light on the major political, economic, and social reforms the Kingdom has undertaken since adopting the 2011 Constitution. The Speaker also highlighted the projects launched by our country under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God glorify him.
In his interaction with the questions of the Network's members, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami gave extensive clarifications on several questions and matters, particularly the role of the Parliament in evaluating public policies, the economic relations between the Kingdom and Africa, the National Human Development Initiative, combating poverty and vulnerability, the bases of the social welfare State in Morocco, the industrial policy and investments, renewable energies, democracy, and the representation of women in the Parliament.
The meeting featured the participation of the Chairperson of the Finance and Economic Development Committee in the House of Representatives, Rep. Mohammed Chaouki; Rep. Khalid Hatimi, member of the Committee, the Chairperson of the Finance, Planning, and Economic Development Committee in the House of Councilors, Cllr. Massoud Agnaou; and the Deputy Chairperson of the same Committee, Cllr. Mohammed Amouri.
It should be noted that the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and IMF was formed in 2000 with a view to advocating transparency and responsibility within international financial institutions and donor and multilateral organizations.
