Speaker of the House of Representatives Receives Mayor of Antwerp

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami received on Monday, October 3, 2022, at the seat of the House, the parliament member and Mayor of the city of Antwerp in Belgium, Mr. Bart de Wever, currently on a visit to our country at the head of an important delegation.

At the start of the meeting, the Mayor of Antwerp commended the stability, evolution, and development of the Kingdom of Morocco, lauding its leadership in renewable energies, infrastructure, and ports, especially the Tanger-Med Port. In the same regard, he noted that his visit aims at exploring investment opportunities and concluding economic partnerships that would benefit all parties.

Regarding the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, Mr. Bart de Wever noted that the proposal of the Kingdom of Morocco to resolve the issue is the most realistic solution. Besides, he added that the Kingdom of Morocco is a link between Africa and Europe and a regional stability pillar.

For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives gave a brief overview of the main historical highlights of the artificial conflict around the Moroccan Sahara, noting that the autonomy proposal presented by the Kingdom of Morocco to end the conflict enjoys the support of the international community. The latter considers it the only realistic political option that will guarantee the stability and prosperity of the region.

On another note, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami shed light on the significant projects the Kingdom of Morocco has launched under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God glorify him. In this regard, he noted specifically the projects related to renewable and clean energies, rational use of water, food security, the comprehensive development of regions, including the Southern provinces of the Kingdom, the Dakhla Atlantic Seaport, in addition to the Nigeria-Morocco-Europe gas pipeline project, and other ones.

The encounter was also an opportunity where the two parties discussed the tolerant Moroccan model in managing the religious field under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Commander of the Faithful, the Moroccan experience in training Imams, and other questions of mutual interest.
