Speaker of the House of Representatives Receives Delegation of the UK House of Lords

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, received on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at the seat of the House, a delegation from the UK House of Lords currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco where they will meet several officials and perform field visits.

The visit, which extends to Friday, reflects the mutual desire to strengthen communication and parliamentary cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United Kingdom, and falls within the scope of consolidating the friendship and cooperation bonds linking the two Kingdoms.

The UK parliamentary delegation includes members of the Conservative Party: Lord Stuart Polak, Lord James Arbuthnot, Lord Alastair Colin Leckie Campbell, and Lord Eric Pickles.

The talks between the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the UK parliamentary delegation focused on several questions and themes of mutual concern. The two parties also explored the horizons of a bilateral and multilateral cooperation that would reflect the depth of the historical ties linking the two countries and their friendly peoples and serve their common interests.

Besides, the Speaker of the House seized the opportunity to shed light on the major projects launched by the Kingdom of Morocco under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God glorify him, since the adoption of the 2011 Constitution to this day, at the political, economic, and social levels.

The meeting was also an opportunity to brief the UK parliamentary delegation on the latest developments of the case of our territorial integrity and inform them of the autonomy proposal presented by the Kingdom of Morocco and the growing international support it enjoys as a realistic and credible solution. The delegation also took note of the development projects taking place in the southern provinces of the Kingdom of Morocco.
