Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, received on Monday, December 4, 2023, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, a delegation from the Senate of the Republic of Colombia, on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco from December 3 to 9, with a view to consolidating parliamentary communication and cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Colombia and reinforcing the friendship ties linking the two countries.
The delegation of the Colombian Senate comprises the Chairperson of the Colombia-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group, Sen. Germán Blanco Álvarez, and the members of the Foreign Affairs Committee: Sen. José Luis Pérez Oyuela and Sen. Paola Holguín Moreno.
Attended by the Chairperson of the Morocco-Colombia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Rep. Rafik Majait, the talks focused on the links between the Moroccan House of Representatives and its Colombian counterpart and the importance of solidifying the bilateral and multilateral parliamentary ties and exchanging experiences and expertise.
During the meeting, the two parties called for intensifying parliamentary dialogue and coordination under the mutual respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of States, as underscored in the motion adopted by the Colombian Senate on Monday, November 27, 2023, by 65 members out of 106. The said motion emphasizes the territorial integrity of the Kingdom and its sovereignty over its entire territories.
Besides, the two parties shed light on the parliamentary experiences of both countries and discussed several regional and international questions of mutual concern. They also explored the prospects of bilateral and multilateral parliamentary cooperation in a way that concretely reflects the depth of relations between the two countries and entrenches South-South parliamentary coordination in service of mutual bilateral interests.
