Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi El Alami received on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, the Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary to the Kingdom of Morocco, Mr. Miklós Tromler.
At the onset of the meeting, the Ambassador congratulated the Speaker of the House of Representatives and extended to him the congratulations of his counterpart, the Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, on his election to the Speakership of the House. In the same respect, he lauded the good ties linking the Kingdom of Morocco to the Republic of Hungary, which have witnessed enormous momentum in the last decade through the initiatives of coordination and consultation on issues of mutual interest.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary noted that the parliamentary relations between the two countries had advanced significantly, culminating in the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding between the Moroccan House of Representatives and the Hungarian National Assembly on April 29, 2019. The memorandum focuses on advancing Morocco and Hungary's political, economic, cultural, and scientific ties. It also covers intensifying the parliamentary cooperation through constant dialogue and consultation within the two countries' common interests and the exchange of information regarding legislative activities and best practices related to enacting laws. The MoU also stipulates exchanging visits and promoting communication between the standing committees and friendship groups.
On the same occasion, Mr. Miklós Tromler informed the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the esteem of the Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly and extended to him an invitation to visit Budapest in March to consolidate the bilateral parliamentary ties. Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami welcomed the invitation and expressed his willingness to take part in exchanging views with his counterparts on questions of security, stability, migration, renewable energies, and economic, commercial, scientific and cultural cooperation, in addition to the exchange of expertise and consolidation of parliamentary consultation and coordination.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives recalled the gains achieved by the Moroccan House of Representatives during the last decade, which enabled it to occupy a distinguished position within several regional and international parliamentary organizations. He also commended the excellent links between the two countries, noting that Rabat and Budapest have a long-standing history and experiences that they should exchange and benefit from. Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami added that the Moroccan House of Representatives is open to all initiatives that would strengthen its ties with the Hungarian National Assembly and uplift the relations between the two countries to higher levels and towards further openness on the questions of particular priority on the international parliamentary agenda.
The reception by the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Hungarian Ambassador was also an opportunity to discuss and exchange views on several bilateral, regional and international questions of mutual parliamentary interest.
