Speaker of the House of Representatives Receives the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China

Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami received on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, Mr. Li Changlin, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Morocco.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Ambassador expressed his thanks to the Speaker of the House of Representatives for his hospitality. He also congratulated him and extended the congratulations of his Chinese counterpart for his election as the Speaker of the House of Representatives. On this occasion, the Chinese Official commended the good and strategic relations linking the Kingdom of Morocco and the People's Republic of China, which gained additional momentum thanks to the visit of His Majesty the King to Beijing in 2016 and following the numerous initiatives taken by the leaders of the two countries to promote relations and implement the strategic partnership in all fields.

In addition, the Chinese Ambassador highlighted the progress of Rabat-Beijing relations in recent years, namely in economic, industrial, cultural, scientific and health sectors, commending their collaboration during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mr. Li Changlin also shed light on the Morocco-China parliamentary relations and the gains achieved through the exchange of visits and their institutionalization by the signature of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Chinese National People’s Congress on September 30, 2021.

For his part, Mr. Rachid Talbi Alami thanked Mr. Li Changlin, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, for his visit and congratulations, expressing his pride and appreciation for the congratulatory message of his Chinese counterpart. The Speaker of the House of Representatives recalled the strategic partnership ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the People's Republic of China, which are based on mutual respect for sovereignty and the defense of vital mutual interests. The Speaker also commended Beijing's commitment to the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and its support, in addition to the defense of legitimacy in the various international fora. The Speaker of the House of Representatives also thanked the Chinese Ambassador for his country's support to Morocco and the constructive and effective coordination in times of the global health crisis related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives also lauded the distinguished parliamentary relations between the two countries, recalling China's technical support to the House of Representatives in implementing the Open E-Parliament strategy and enhancing its openness to modern technologies in media, communication and parliamentary digitalization. Furthermore, the Speaker reviewed the ideal bilateral parliamentary relations marked with the exchange of visits between the Parliamentarians of both countries, the roles of the two friendship groups, and the coordination at the international and regional levels through parliamentary unions.

The meeting of Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami with Mr. Li Changlin, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, was also an opportunity to discuss and exchange views on numerous bilateral, regional and international parliamentary issues.
