Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi El Alami, received on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at the House, the Ambassador of the Gabonese Republic to the Kingdom of Morocco, Mr. MINKO MI-NSEME SYLVER ABOUBAKAR.
The discussion between Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami and the Ambassador of the Gabonese Republic covered ways and means to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the parliamentary field. In addition, the discussion touched on a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
At the onset of this meeting, Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami applauded the solid friendship that binds the leaders of the two countries, HM. King Mohamed VI, may Allah assist him, and His Excellency Ali Bongo Ondimba, President of the Gabonese Republic. In this respect, he noted that Morocco and Gabon are engaged in strengthening mutual cooperation and exchange of expertise in various fields.
On this occasion, Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami expressed the determination of the House of Representatives to solidify the bonds of friendship and cooperation with Gabon in the parliamentary field. In the same vein, he added that the House is currently constituting a number of parliamentary friendship groups with many countries, including Gabon, and added that Morocco is ready to share its parliamentary experience with it.
During this meeting, Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami renewed his gratitude to the Gabonese Ambassador for the firm support of his country to the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco.
For his part, the ambassador of the Gabonese Republic expressed his congratulations to the Speaker of the House of Representatives for his election to the speakership of the House, following the recent legislative elections in the Kingdom. In this regard, he noted that Morocco, as a distinctive country, has strong historical ties with Gabon, calling to give more momentum to the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in a way that reflects the strong relations binding the leaders of the two countries.
At the parliamentary level, the ambassador of the Gabonese Republic called to foster cooperation between the National Assembly of Gabon and the Moroccan House of Representatives, namely through the exchange of expertise and experiences. Additionally, he commended the Moroccan parliamentary experience that may benefit Gabon greatly.
Moreover, the Gabonese diplomat reiterated his country’s support to the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and its full assistance to Morocco regarding the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara. In the same vein, he recalled that Gabon celebrated its 61th independence anniversary in Laayoun city between 18 and 19 September 2021, which reflects par excellence its unconditional support to the Kingdom.
It is worth mentioning that the Gabonese Republic opened in January 2020 its consulate-general in Laayoun city in the southern provinces of the Kingdom of Morocco.
