Speaker of the House of Representatives holds talks with the Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates

Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi El Alami received, on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the House, the Speaker of the Federal National Council of United Arab Emirates, the Hon. Saqr Ghobash, and the delegation accompanying him, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.

At the outset of the meeting, Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami welcomed the Hon. Saqr Ghobash and his delegation, expressing his pride at the visit, which constitutes a new impetus for strengthening relations between the Moroccan and Emirati legislative institutions. In this respect, the Speaker of the House of Representatives recalled the well-rooted historical and cultural ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United Arab Emirates and the solid brotherly relations between the two countries' leaders. Furthermore, Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami reiterated Rabat's firm positions in support of the United Arab Emirates and all the steps it has taken to defend its national territory and the well-being of its citizens.

At the parliamentary level, Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami highlighted the achievements and dynamism of the Moroccan House of Representatives, which has gained a distinguished position nationally and internationally, especially within many continental, regional and international parliamentary bodies and organizations. He noted that these achievements rendered the House an institutional model, stressing that Parliamentarians in Morocco have built strong relations with their counterparts in the United Arab Emirates. He further added that he would be glad to exchange experience and expertise between the two sides and that he is open to new issues and spaces to strengthen the existing parliamentary ties.

For his part, the Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates, the Hon. Saqr Ghobash, and the delegation accompanying him, expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Kingdom of Morocco for their warm welcome and hospitality. In addition, the Hon. Saqr Ghobash noted that his participation in the 11^th Congress of the Association of Senates, Shura and Equivalent Councils in Africa and the Arab World and the Forum for Parliamentary Dialogue with Senates in Latin America and the Caribbean, organized under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, and hosted by the House of Councilors on March 3-5, 2022, would strengthen the multilateral and bilateral parliamentary relations between the two brotherly countries, the Kingdom of Morocco and the United Arab Emirates.

Also, the Speaker of the Federal National Council and his delegation reiterated the well-rooted brotherly and humane relations between the two countries, stressing that the depth of these relations is embodied by the common views on many issues of common interest at the level of regional and international fora. The Hon. Saqr Ghobash also expressed his admiration for the Moroccan experience and the achievements made by the Kingdom of Morocco in various fields, which has made it a role model.

The meeting between the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami, with the Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates, the Hon. Saqr Ghobash, and his delegation, represented an occasion to address parliamentary issues of common interest and a chance to agree on the promotion of bilateral parliamentary relations through the exchange of experiences and expertise and permanent communication between the Parliaments of the two countries.
