Speaker of the House of Representatives Holds Talks with Speaker of the Dominican Chamber of Deputies

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami held talks on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at the seat of the House in Rabat, with the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Dominican Republic, Hon. Alfredo Pacheco Osoria, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco at the head of an important parliamentary delegation on April 23-29, 2023.

The parliamentary delegation of the Dominican Republic includes Ms. Rosa Hilda Genao Díaz, the Chairperson of the Dominican Republic – Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group; Mr. José Luis Rodríguez Hiciano, a member of the Group; Ms. María Elisa Suárez Alcalá, Mr. Pedro Antonio Martínez Moronta, Ms. Damarys Vásquez Castillo, Mr. Geraldo Antonio Concepción Vargas, Ms. Enriqueta Rojas Javier De Figueroa, in addition to administrative officers from the Chamber of Deputies of the Dominican Republic.

During the talks, held in the presence of the Chairperson of the Morocco – Dominican Republic Parliamentary Friendship Group, Rep. Abderrazak Hachimi, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Dominican Republic to Rabat, H.E. Amaury Justo Duarte, the two parties commended the bilateral and multilateral ties linking the two institutions and stressed the importance of parliamentary coordination through continuous consultation, the exchange of visits. They also underscored the imperative of working on the consolidation of win-win partnerships between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Dominican Republic, and the mutual respect of sovereignty. Besides, they also noted the peculiarity of the parliamentary experience of each country and explored the means to exchange experiences and expertise.

On the same occasion, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami lauded the positive position of the Dominican Republic regarding the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco, noting that the Kingdom is a regional role model in stability and works on preserving international peace and resolving conflicts in pacific manners. Moreover, the Speaker of the House of Representatives shed light on the grand projects launched by the Kingdom of Morocco for more than 20 years under the high leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect and assist him, which grant special attention to the human capital in all its dimensions and manifestations.

For his part, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Dominican Republic, Hon. Alfredo Pacheco Osoria, noted the depth of relations between the two countries as they share several priorities, which is reflected in the relations between the Moroccan House of Representatives and Dominican Chamber of Deputies at the bilateral and multilateral levels characterized by the mutual respect of the sovereignty and unity of States. In the same regard, he recalled the relations linking the Dominican Chamber of Deputies and its Moroccan counterpart at the multilateral level, as the House of Representatives is an observer member of the Central American Parliament (Parlacen) and the Forum of the Speakers of the Legislative Assemblies of Central America and the Caribbean (FOPREL), as well as on the bilateral levels, noting in this sense the Cooperation Agreement concluded by the two legislative institutions in October 2014 to entrench rapprochement, coexistence, solidarity, and mutual understanding.

It should be noted that the Speaker of the Dominican Chamber of Deputies and his entourage will hold a series of talks with several officials and perform field visits to explore closely the major projects launched by the Kingdom of Morocco.
