Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami received on Friday, October 28, 2022, at the seat of the House, the President of the Belgian Liberal Party, Mr. Georges-Louis Bouchez, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco on October 27-30. During the visit, the President will meet several Moroccan officials and perform field visits to several grand projects the Kingdom of Morocco has launched under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify him.
The talks between the two parties focused on highlighting the bilateral and multilateral ties linking the Moroccan House of Representatives to its Belgian counterpart and between politicians and parliamentarians from both countries, in addition to their role in consolidating constant dialogue and communication. Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami shed light on the Moroccan experience under the 2011 Constitution, the Moroccan electoral and parliamentary systems, and the prerogatives entrusted to the House of Representatives, especially those related to evaluating public policies and its relations with the other constitutional institutions. The Speaker also underscored the significant roles of parliamentary diplomacy in reinforcing coordination with parliaments and in regional and international fora.
Besides, the Speaker of the House of Representatives also gave a brief overview of the developments of the Moroccan Sahara cause and the autonomy proposal presented by the Kingdom of Morocco. He also stressed that the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco enjoys regional and international support, recalling the recent resolution of the UN Security Council that reaffirms the credibility of the autonomy proposal as a credible solution to the conflict around the Moroccan Sahara.
Additionally, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami presented figures of the multifaceted development of the Kingdom's southern provinces, noting the high participation rate they witnessed during the September 2021 elections. The meeting was also an opportunity where the Speaker of the House noted several features of the Moroccan model and the security and stability the Kingdom enjoys, in addition to the attention given to the human element and the issues of migration and migrants. Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami also noted the launch by the Kingdom of Morocco of several projects like schooling, education, health coverage, social protection, employment, renewable energies, food security, and digital transition, which has made the Kingdom a role model at the continental and international levels.
For his part, the President of the Belgian Liberal Party, Mr. Georges-Louis Bouchez, expressed his pride and esteem for this meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives. He also stressed the importance of consolidating fruitful communication and dialogue bridges between politicians and parliamentarians, bringing views closer, and identifying the Moroccan model and the peculiarities of the major projects the Kingdom of Morocco has launched.
Mr. Georges-Louis Bouchez also underscored the significance of such meetings, especially given the dynamism characterizing the bilateral ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and Belgium. According to him, such meetings are an opportunity to exchange views on several regional and international questions of mutual political and parliamentary interest and to establish facts and information to build strong and lasting political and parliamentary ties.
