Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, held talks, on Tuesday, in Addis Ababa, with the Speaker of the Ethiopian House of Peoples' Representatives, Hon. Tagesse Chafo. The talks covered the means to consolidate cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and Ethiopia.
The meeting, which took place at the seat of the Ethiopian Parliament and was attended by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco in Ethiopia and Djibouti, Hon. Nezha Alaoui Mhamdi, constructed an opportunity for the two parties to discuss cooperation between the legislative institutions of the two countries, and their political and economic relations.
In a statement to the press following the meeting, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami noted that the talks revolved around several questions linked to the ties between the two countries, adding that said ties are excellent and constantly evolving.
The Speaker of the House also noted that the meeting was an occasion to review the economic ties between the two countries, particularly the grand project of constructing a fertilizers factory in Ethiopia, which was the subject of an agreement concluded during the historical visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to Ethiopia in 2016.
Besides, the Speaker made notice of setting an air link between the two countries. In this respect, he stressed the imperative of finding the means to ensure direct air connectivity by the airlines of the two countries, who have a distinguished position in the continent, in order to serve the interests of botj countries.
Concerning parliamentary ties, the Speaker of the House noted that he and his counterpart discussed the launch of several initiatives between the parliaments of the two countries that concern mainly the advancement of bilateral political dialogue, the exchange of experiences in decentralization, in addition to cooperation at the level of international organizations.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives is visitting Addis Ababa to receive the Pan-African Prize awarded by Ethiopia to the late His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may his soul rest in peace, in recognition of his great efforts and contribution to the unification and liberation of Africa, especially through his efforts to create the Organization of African Unity.
