Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami held talks, on Monday, October 24, 2022, at the seat of the House, with the European Parliamentarian and First Vice-President of the Renew Europe Group, Mr. Malik Azmani, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco. The visit, covering the period of October 23-27, will include meetings with officials and field visits to explore the large projects the Kingdom of Morocco has engaged, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify him.
The encounter featured the participation of the members of the Morocco-EU Joint Parliamentary Committee, namely: Rep. Hicham Ait Manna and Rep. Zaina Chahim, from the Group of the National Rally of Independents; and Rep. Abdelmajid El Fassi Fihri, from the Istiqlali Group of Unity and Egalitarianism.
The talks focused on highlighting the bilateral and multilateral ties linking the House of Representatives with European Parliamentarians. In the same respect, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami shed light on the Moroccan experience under the 2011 Constitution and the prerogatives entrusted to the House of Representatives, especially in evaluating public policies and its relations with other constitutional institutions.
The Speaker of the House also gave a brief overview of the developments of the Moroccan Sahara question and the autonomy proposal presented by the Kingdom of Morocco. In the same respect, he stressed that the Kingdom's territorial integrity enjoys regional and international support. Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami also presented figures on the multifaceted development of the southern provinces of the Kingdom, recalling the high participation rate recorded in said regions during the September 2021 elections.
The meeting was also an opportunity where the Speaker of the House highlighted several features of the Moroccan model and the security and stability the Kingdom enjoys, in addition to the attention given to the human element and the issues of migration and migrants. Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami also noted the launch by the Kingdom of Morocco of several projects like health coverage, social protection, renewable energies, food security, and digital transition, which has made the Kingdom a role model at the continental and international levels.
For his part, the European Parliamentarian and First Vice-President of the Renew Europe Group, Mr. Malik Azmani commended his meeting with the Speaker of the House, noting its importance for the consolidation of fruitful and continuous dialogue and communication bridges between parliamentarians, the convergence of views, and identification of the Moroccan model and characteristics of the major projects launched by the Kingdom of Morocco.
Besides, the member of the European Parliament stressed the efficiency of such visits and meetings, as they are an opportunity to exchange views on several regional, continental, and international questions of mutual concern and a chance to discuss and check facts to build solid and lasting parliamentary ties based on mutual respect, and bilateral and multilateral parliamentary efficiency.
