Speaker of the House of Representatives Holds Talks with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, held talks on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at the seat of the House in Rabat, with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Mr. Prak Sokhonn, currently on an official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco on March 27-28, 2023.

The talks between the two parties covered the valuation of the excellent ties linking both Kingdoms, characterized by friendship, mutual respect, and continuous consultation and coordination on questions of mutual concern. The two parties also discussed consolidating the parliamentary cooperation ties through institutionalizing the bilateral and multilateral links, sustainable communication, reflection on the creation of new dialogue and exchange spaces, and the exchange of experiences and expertise.

On occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia thanked the Speaker of the House of Representatives for the warm welcome and the meeting. He also reiterated the full support of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco and its territorial integrity, and its esteem for the efforts of the Kingdom to reach a consensual political solution to the cause of the Moroccan Sahara.

Besides, the Cambodian Official noted that the two countries are on the right track to reinforce their economic, commercial, cultural, tourism, educational, and parliamentary relations. In the same vein, he noted that his visit and meetings with several Moroccan officials fall within the same scope.

For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, commended the position of the Kingdom of Cambodia in favor of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco. Moreover, the Speaker of the House recalled the results of his fruitful visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia in November 2022 and his meetings with the Prime Minister and the Speakers of the National Assembly and the Senate on the sidelines of his participation in the 43rd General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the ASEAN. The Speaker also added that the Kingdom of Cambodia is the gate for the Kingdom of Morocco to the countries of Southeast Asia, and the Kingdom of Morocco is Cambodia's gate to Africa.

On the same occasion, the Speaker of the House of Representatives briefed the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia and his entourage of the Moroccan parliamentary experience. In the same regard, he stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in consolidating communication, dialogue, and regional and international coordination, and noted the prominence of exchanging parliamentary experiences and expertise.

The meeting of the Speaker of the House of Representatives with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia was also an opportunity to exchange views on several regional, continental, and international questions of mutual concern.
