Speaker of the House of Representatives Holds Talks with Chairperson of the Parliamentary Friendship Group for Relations with the Maghreb States at the German Bundestag

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, held talks on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, with the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Friendship Group for Relations with the Maghreb States at the German Bundestag, MP Carl-Julius Cronenberg, currently on a working visit to our country, accompanied by the members of the Friendship Group: MP Dietmar Friedhoff (Alternative for Germany) and MP Mareike Lotte Wulf (Christian Democratic Union of Germany).

During their talks, the two parties commended the quality of the Morocco-Germany parliamentary relations. In the same regard, they explored the means to consolidate bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two legislative institutions in a way that would serve as a fundamental and additional lever to relations between the two countries, particularly in economy, trade, and investment.

On occasion, the Speaker of the House of Representatives lauded the close cooperation ties linking the Moroccan House of Representatives and the German Bundestag, particularly regarding the assistance implemented in archiving and digitalizing the proceedings of the House of Representatives.

During the meeting, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami shed light on the major projects launched by the Kingdom of Morocco under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify him, noting in particular the ones linked to renewable energies, the fight against drought and global warming, the production of green hydrogen, water desalination, food security, the construction of a grand seaport in Dakhla, and the creation of a major financial pole that gathers 23 Atlantic African States.

For his part, the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Friendship Group for Relations with the Maghreb States at the German Bundestag noted the major importance of this visit, being the Group's first visit abroad during the ongoing legislative term. In the same context, he underscored the excellent quality of the relations uniting the two countries, particularly at the parliamentary level. He added that the talks between the two parties are conducted on a high level and cover all themes and questions of mutual concern.

Besides, MP Carl-Julius Cronenberg praised the cooperation between the two countries, notably in economy, which has grown deeper over time. In the same vein, he expressed his hopes of strengthening this cooperation to cover other areas, especially renewable energies and the production of green hydrogen. MP Carl-Julius Cronenberg also noted that political stability is a major factor in investment, adding that German enterprises are willing to increase their investments in the Kingdom of Morocco and that the Parliament shall follow up and contribute to consolidating this dynamism.

The meeting also featured the presence of the Chairperson of the Morocco-Germany Parliamentary Friendship Group, Rep. Naima El Fethaoui, and the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Kingdom of Morocco, H.E. Robert Dölger.
