Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi El Alami received on Monday, March 7, 2022, at the House, the Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the Congress of the Republic of Peru, Mr. Ernesto Bustamante Donayre, currently on a working visit to our country at the head of an important delegation.
On this occasion, the Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the Peruvian Congress affirmed that the sole solution to the artificial conflict around the Moroccan Sahara goes through the autonomy proposal presented by the Kingdom of Morocco to settle this case permanently. He further added, “The sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco over its Sahara is indisputable.”
Mr. Ernesto Bustamante Donayre highlighted that the Peruvian Congress supports the consolidation of the Morocco-Peru bilateral ties. In the same respect, he praised the success of the Kingdom of Morocco in managing the Covid-19 pandemic and the development dynamism the Kingdom witnesses in several areas, particularly in renewable energies, infrastructure, industry, and agriculture. The Peruvian congressman also noted the importance of advancing the commercial and economic exchange on the horizon of concluding a free trade agreement between the two countries.
For his part, Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi El Alami hailed the visit of the delegation of the Peruvian Congress to the Kingdom, which reflects the solidity of the ties linking the legislative institutions of the two countries. He also noted that the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco is the primary cause for the House of Representatives and all the components of Moroccan society. In this context, he added, "the Kingdom of Morocco is a pole of peace and stability, and it has become a role model in the region in this regard."
Besides, the Speaker of the House of Representatives presented some aspects of the comprehensive development taking place in the southern regions of the Kingdom and the structural projects launched following the directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him. He also underlined that the said regions recorded the highest participation rate in the recent legislative elections in the Kingdom of Morocco.
Mr. Talbi El Alami gave an overview of the major reforms in the Kingdom of Morocco on several levels, namely in the constitutional, institutional, economic, agricultural, energy and social sectors. He added that the Kingdom of Morocco is willing to share its experience with friendly and brotherly countries and is open to benefiting from the successful practices in such countries.
The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of His Majesty to the Republic of Peru Amin Chaoudri, and the Chairpersons of the Intelligence Committee and the Constitutional Committee at the Peruvian Congress, Mr. José Ernesto Cueto and Ms. Carmen Patricia Juárez Gallegos.
