The Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia hold bilateral talks and sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two legislative institutions

Following their meeting in Rabat, Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami, President of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco, and visiting counterpart, Mrs. Urška Klakočar Zupančič, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia welcomed the excellence of relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Slovenia.

They highlighted the important role the two legislative institutions could play to further advance bilateral relations, which will celebrate, this year, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

At the same time, they highlighted the importance of signing the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco and the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, which represents the basis for future strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation on various fields and possibility to connect parliaments and exchange views and opinions on various issues of common interest at the regional and international levels.

The Kingdom of Morocco being a key partner for the European Union and an important actor in Africa and the Mediterranean, the two sides underlined the importance of encouraging partnerships for the promotion of mutual understanding, stability and economic development.     

The two sides highlighted the importance of reaching a political solution to the Sahara issue, in the spirit of compromise and realism, as reiterated by consecutive United Nations Security Council resolutions.
