Speaker of the House of Representatives and Ambassador of France Discuss Consolidating Bilateral and Multilateral Parliamentary

Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami received on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, the Ambassador of the Republic of France to the Kingdom of Morocco, Hélène Le Gal.

At the start of the meeting, the Ambassador thanked the Speaker of the House of Representatives for the warm reception and congratulated him on his election to the Speakership of the House. She also expressed her aspiration towards advancing the bilateral and multilateral parliamentary ties and the Morocco-France coordination to the farthest levels in the different regional and international parliamentary fora. The Ambassador added that the Kingdom of Morocco is the primary partner of France, which can be witnessed in all sectors, areas and institutions.

Besides, the Ambassador expressed her pride in the project of institutional parliamentary twinning and noted the excellent quality of the parliamentary ties linking the two countries. In the same respect, she stressed that this dynamic must be preserved after the legislative elections in France in June 2022 through the friendship groups and the Morocco-France Parliamentary Forum. The latter constitutes a platform for exchanging and converging the views and thoughts on questions of mutual concern such as climate change, renewable energies, digital transition, and the health, social and economic priorities imposed by the pandemic on the parliamentary agenda.

For his part, Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami welcomed the Ambassador of the Republic of France to Rabat, Hélène Le Gal. He highlighted the distinguished relations between Morocco and France on different levels under mutual respect of the national sovereignty and defense of the major common interests of the two parties. In the same respect, the Speaker lauded the bilateral parliamentary ties that were institutionalized into a parliamentary forum. The latter organized several sessions and is a role model in bilateral and multilateral parliamentary relations. The Speaker also shed light on the necessity to extend bridges between the parliamentarians of the two countries through enhancing the role of the two parliamentary friendship groups.

The meeting was also an opportunity where the Speaker of the House presented the gains achieved by the Kingdom of Morocco under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, and the initiatives and directives of His Majesty. These made Morocco a pioneering country at the regional and international levels in addressing the repercussions of Covid-19. Mr. Talbi Alami also gave a glimpse of the Moroccan parliamentary experience and the circumstances of organizing the last elections despite the pandemic, which increased the trust in the Moroccan model and its orientations.

The two parties seized this opportunity also to discuss and exchange views on several bilateral regional and international questions of mutual parliamentary interest.
