On the sidelines of the Meetings of the PA-UfM's Bureau and Expanded Bureau, the Speaker of the House of Representatives Holds Talks with the Speaker of the Spanish Congress of Deputies

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami held talks on Monday, October 10, 2022, at the seat of the House, with the Speaker of the Spanish Congress of Deputies, Hon. Meritxell Batet Lamaña, on the sidelines of her participation in the meetings of the Bureau and Expanded Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean, hosted by the House of Representatives.

On this occasion, the two parties commended the positive outcomes of the meetings, which featured the participation of the European Parliament, Spanish Congress of Deputies, Egyptian House of Representatives, and the Turkish, Portuguese, and Italian Parliaments, as well as the Moroccan Parliament. In the same respect, the two parties expressed their strong will to give more dynamism to the works of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean, given its position as a space for parliamentary dialogue and consultation on the issues and challenges in the Mediterranean region.

At the bilateral level, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Speaker of the Spanish Congress of the Deputies lauded the quality of relations between the legislative institutions of the two countries. The two Speakers also stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in consolidating convergence and cooperation bonds and lauded the role of the Morocco-Spain Parliamentary Forum in extending communication, dialogue, and consultation bridges between the two legislative institutions.
