A delegation of the Moroccan parliamentary representation at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie is taking part in the proceedings of the 29th Session of the Regional African Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie (APF), taking place in Niamey, Niger, on May 16-18, 2023.
Rep. Latifa Lablih, the Chairperson of the Public Finance Control Committee (Group of Authenticity and Modernity), leads the delegation that comprises Rep. Hussein Ouaallal (Group of the National Rally of Independents), Rep. Hachim Amine Chafik (Istiqlali Group of Unity and Egalitarianism), and Cllr. Mina Hamdani (Group of the Moroccan Workers Union at the House of Councilors).
This major parliamentary event is an occasion for the members of African parliaments in the APF to gather, discuss, exchange views, and explore broad horizons to consolidate parliamentary efforts in the francophone area.
The agenda of the Session includes the discussion of several central questions relating to the political situation in several States like Burkina Faso, Guinea, Mali, Chad, and other ones. In this regard, the participants will cover several themes: the challenges of democratic governance and security in French-speaking Africa, food security in addressing the economic, political, and social crises, the preservation of forests and combatting desertification in Africa and its impacts on public policies, and the parliamentary initiatives in the last decade.
On the sidelines of the Session, the Moroccan delegation will hold talks with several participating delegations to reinforce bilateral and multilateral parliamentary cooperation.
