At the invitation of Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Djibouti Mohamed Ali Houmed, a delegation of the national representation at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie (APF) took part in the 13th Session of the Congress of Heads of Parliaments and Parliamentary Representations in Africa, under the Assembly, held on March 16-17 at the seat of the Parliament of Djibouti.

The Congress, marked by the participation of the Heads of Parliaments of several African francophone countries, takes place prior to the convention of the 28th session of the African Regional Assembly to examine and discuss several important questions inscribed in the agenda, such as “peace, stability and health justice;” “the African Continental Free Trade Zone to achieve inclusion and growth in Africa;” “Role of women in political, economic and social development;” and other questions relating to the environment and climate change. The participants will also tackle the political situation in several francophone countries. Besides, the Congress will feature the presentation and discussion of the report on Africa from January 2021 to March 17.

Regarding the various issues on the agenda of the next session of the African Regional Assembly, Rep. Mohamed Ghayate (Group of the National Rally of Independents), representing the Speaker of the House of Representatives in his capacity as Vice-President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie, and on behalf of the parliamentary representation at the Assembly, took the floor to renew the Kingdom of Morocco's support for the territorial and national unity of the brotherly African States in a tense regional and global context, and its emphasis on the peaceful settlement of disputes to ensure security, stability and sustainable development in Africa.

In this regard, the member of the parliamentary representation recalled the regular visits of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, to numerous African countries, which reflect the spirit of solidarity, and the dynamic and growing South-South cooperation in all areas, especially regarding the political, economic and social empowerment of women and in the climate field, through the promotion of measures to mitigate climate change and reduce global warming.

He also stressed the importance of establishing the African Continental Free Trade Zone (ZLECAF) to promote intra-African trade, increase investment opportunities, and achieve better integration of regional added value chains into essential sectors.

The parliamentary delegation also includes the Representatives Latifa Lablih (Group of Authenticity and Modernity) and El Houcine Ouallal (Group of the National Rally of Independents), in addition to the Councilor Amina Hamdani (Moroccan Labor Union).

It should be noted that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie (APF) was established in May 1967 in Luxemburg as a platform for debate, presentation of propositions, and exchange of information and experiences. The Assembly counts among its members several parliamentary representations from the five continents.
