House of Representatives Unanimously Adopts Government Bill 94.21 on Covered Bonds

The House of Representatives unanimously adopted, on Monday, June 20, 20222, Government Bill 94.21 on covered bonds. The adoption occurred during a plenary sitting chaired by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, in the presence of the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in Charge of Relations with the Parliament and Government Spokesperson, M. Mustapha Baitas, and the Minister of Economy and Finance, Ms. Nadia Fettah Alaoui.

The elaboration of Government Bill 94.21 on covered bonds is part of our country's strategy to pursue the development of the financial sector, mobilize long-term savings and diversify the financing instruments.

The provisions of Government Bill 94.21 focus on granting Bank Al-Maghrib (the Central Bank of Morocco) the power to supervise the activities related to covered bonds. It also includes provisions related to coverage, collaterals, and other provisions on transparency and information.
