Consolidation of Parliamentary Ties at the Heart of Talks between the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Chairperson of the National Defense Committee at the French National Assembly

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami held talks on Monday, December 19, 2022, at the seat of the House, with the Chairperson of the Committee on National Defense and Armed Forces at the French National Assembly, Mr. Thomas Gassilloud, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.

The talks between the two parties focused on the consolidation of parliamentary cooperation between the two legislative institutions, in addition to several regional and international questions of mutual concern.

On occasion, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Chairperson of the Committee on National Defense and Armed Forces at the French National Assembly noted the mutual will to advance cooperation between the two countries in various areas, particularly at the parliamentary level. In this respect, they called for reinforcing the roles of the Morocco-France Parliamentary Forum, which held its last session in 2019 in Paris.

Besides, the two parties covered the latest developments of the national cause and the autonomy proposal, considering it a realistic and credible solution to the artificial conflict around the Moroccan Sahara, and given the regional and international support it enjoys.

The talks between the two sides also covered some questions of mutual parliamentary concern like global security and stability, migration, food security, renewable energies, and digital transition.
