Consolidation of Parliamentary Cooperation and Dialogue at the Heart of Talks between Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chairperson of the Kuwait-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami received on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, the Chairperson of the Kuwait-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group, MP Hamad Mohammed Al-Matar, currently leading a delegation of the Kuwaiti National Assembly on a visit to the Kingdom.

During their talks, attended by the Chairperson of the Morocco-Kuwait Parliamentary Friendship Group, Rep. Elabbes Mrhari, and the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Rabat, H.E. Abdullatif Al-Yahya, the two parties discussed the means to reinforce bilateral and multilateral parliamentary cooperation. They also addressed several questions of mutual parliamentary concern at the regional and international levels.

Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami recalled the depth of the historic ties uniting the Kingdom of Morocco and the State of Kuwait under the wise rule of the leaders of both countries. He also reiterated his gratitude to the State of Kuwait for its continuous support and advocacy for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and its sovereignty over its entire territory, praising the unwavering position of the State of Kuwait regarding the Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara.

Besides, the Speaker of the House of Representatives shed light on the dynamic developments that the Kingdom of Morocco is experiencing in various vital areas, as well as on the projects launched by the Kingdom under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify him, particularly those related to economy, society, investment, innovation, and renewable energies.

Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami also underscored the imperative of strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the two legislative institutions and the exchange of experiences, expertise, and visits. He also added that the Moroccan House of Representatives remains keen to coordinate and consult with its Kuwaiti counterpart in the various international parliamentary fora, particularly the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

For his part, the Chairperson of the Kuwait-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group extended to Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami the regards of his counterpart the Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly, Hon. Ahmed Abdulaziz Jassim Al-Sadoun. He also underscored the depth of the good links uniting the two countries and their brotherly peoples, as well as the understanding and agreement characterizing said relations. In the same respect, he praised the stability reigning in the State of  Kuwait and the Kingdom of Morocco thanks to the wise and insightful command of their leaders.

Moreover, MP Hamad Mohammed Al-Matar also stated that the Kingdom of Morocco has acquired a significant weight and influence at the international level thanks to the gains it has accumulated over the recent years in several fields.

On the same occasion, the Kuwaiti Official reiterated his country’s support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom and its autonomy proposal. In this regard, he noted that the State of Kuwait supports the full sovereignty of the Kingdom over its Sahara following the foreign policy of the State of Kuwait based on balance, listening, the right to full sovereignty, and non-interference in the internal affairs of States. Besides, the Chairperson of the Kuwait-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group emphasized the imperative of bilateral and multilateral parliamentary coordination in various parliamentary fora to solidify continuous and efficient dialogue and communication.

In addition to the Chairperson of the Kuwait-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group, MP Hamad Mohammed Al-Matar, the Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation also included MP Hamdane Salem Al-Azmi, MP Fahad Abdulaziz Al-Masoud, MP Saud Abdulaziz Al-Raqam, and MP Mohammed Hameedi Al-Oumairi.
