Conclusion of Memorandum of Understanding between House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco and the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rachid Talbi El Alami, and the President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP), Hon. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Jarwane, concluded on Friday, July 15, 2022, in Dakhla, a memorandum of understanding linking the House of Representatives to the GCTP’s International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace. The MoU aims to consolidate means of cooperation in tolerance and peace.

According to the tenor of the MoU, the IPTP six committees shall work to consolidate and materialize this cooperation according to each committee’s competencies and areas of intervention. The Committees are the Peace Cultivating Committee, the Women and Youth Committee, the Foreign Affairs Committee, the Sustainable Development Committee, the Legal Affairs Committee, and the Counter-Terrorism Committee.

The two parties have agreed on the appoint of a member from the House of Representatives within the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace and his empowerment to propose any theme for discussion during IPTP’s plenary sessions, subject to the regulations, competencies, and procedures outlined in the institution’s Rules of Procedure.

The MoU also stipulates the commitment by the IPTP to provide the House of Representatives with the minutes of its plenary sessions following their convention and the invitation of its Secretariat General to the Secretary-General of the House of Representatives or his delegate to take part in the annual congress of the Secretaries General of national parliaments, to advance relations and explore means to develop cooperation continuously.

In addition, the MoU dictates the conduct of talks whenever one of the parties sees fit to coordinate the organization of any joint gatherings. The MoU shall enter into force starting from the date of its conclusion.
