Conclusion of a Cooperation Agreement between the Parliament of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates

Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi El Alami, Speaker of the House of Councilors Naam Miyara and Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita presided on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, the ceremony of the conclusion of a cooperation agreement between the Parliament of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, namely the Moroccan Academy for Diplomatic Studies.

During this ceremony, held at the House of Councilors, Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi El Alami noted that the conclusion of this agreement is part of cooperation and complementarity between the two Houses of the Parliament and the Executive Branch in a way that serves the higher interests of the Kingdom. In this respect, he recalled the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, on the opening of the first session of the ongoing legislative term, where His Majesty called for "concerted efforts centered on strategic priorities in order to carry on with the mission of promoting development while facing up to external challenges." In the same vein, the Speaker also recalled the Royal directives on the necessity of further complementarity and synergy between the two Houses of the Parliament to serve the public interest and the defense of the just causes of the nation.

Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami noted that the Moroccan Parliament is rich in its political, syndicalist and social components, which enables it to play a major role at the level of parliamentary diplomacy. In this context, he lauded the significant role that the Moroccan embassies and diplomatic representations play in assisting parliamentarians during their missions abroad.

The Speaker affirmed his conviction that this agreement will contribute to advancing the assets of the Moroccan Parliament and will provide it with the precise and proper information in a way that contributes to the defense of the national causes, mainly the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, and to the exchange of views with international parliaments on questions of mutual interest like climate change, renewable energies and digital transition.
