Diplomatic record of the Kingdom in the national cause and the prospects of resolving the Moroccan Sahara conflict.
The Board of the House of Representatives held its weekly meeting on Monday, December 21st, 2020. The meeting, chaired by the Speaker of House of Representatives Habib El Malki, was devoted to parliamentary control and legislation.
As for control, the Board has decided, upon consultation between the Speakership and the chairpersons of the parliamentary groups and caucus, to set the agenda of the plenary sitting for oral questions to the Head of Government on general policy on Monday, December 28th, 2020, to tackle:
“The diplomatic record of the Kingdom in the national cause and the prospects of resolving the Moroccan Sahara conflict.”
As regards legislation, the Board of the House has defined the agenda of the legislative sitting of Tuesday, December 22nd, 2020, affirming the importance of the parliamentary initiatives in legislation. In this respect, the Board has scheduled for a vote four parliamentary bills that concern export processing zones, the Labor Code (two bills), and lifting pensions for the members of the House of Representatives. The Board reviewed the latter bill and lauded the spirit of consensus around its provisions.
The Board has also determined the Government bills that will be scheduled for a vote in the same sitting. They are a Government bill ratifying the decree-law enacting special provisions to the state of public health emergency and the measures for its declaration, a Government bill on communes' taxation system, and another Government bill relative to ship-source pollution.
Additionally, the Board reviewed the pace of work within standing committees concerning control and legislation, noting the importance of the ongoing projects at the level of exploratory missions, which cover several vital economic, social, health, and financial sectors. The Board also reviewed the legislative work program of the standing committees.
