The Board of the House of Representatives held its weekly meeting under the chairmanship of Speaker of House of Representatives Habib El Malki on Monday, December 14th, 2020. The meeting was devoted to the latest developments in the national cause and other matters relative to control, legislation, and the House’s work program.
At the start of the meeting, the Speaker of the House and the Board members lauded the historical recognition by the United States of America of the full sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco over the entire regions of the Moroccan Sahara and its decision to open a consulate in Dakhla. The participants noted with pride the successive diplomatic gains that Morocco has been achieving under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect him, the Commander of the Faithful, who sees the respect for Islam, and Guarantor of the country’s independence and the territorial integrity of the Kingdom within its authentic frontiers.
The Speaker and the Board members expressed their appreciation and consideration for the efforts of His Majesty the King, marked by wisdom, experience, and prudence in managing the diplomatic issues and projects of the Kingdom, which are unprecedented gains that will remain engraved in the national memory as a source of pride to all of us.
At the top of these interests comes the historical development in the national cause of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom. In this respect, they noted with pride the successive recognitions of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, which Moroccans consider a matter of existence and not simply a question of borders.
The Board of the House also recalled the strife of the Palestinian people and their just cause, affirming the central position of the cause for HM the King and all Moroccans. It is a cause that has been long attached to royal diplomatic strife and the struggle of a whole nation, and parliamentary diplomacy has been one of the aspects of this struggle in the various parliamentary organizations and fora.
As for control, the Board updated the agenda of the plenary oral questions sitting of Monday, December 14th, 2020, to include the departments of trade, industry, green and digital economy, national territory development, urban planning, housing, and city policy. The Board has also decided to reinstate the old questioning system used before the state of public health emergency by adopting the poles principle and resuming work with additional commentary. The Board also affirmed the necessity of rethinking the questions system to consolidate it based on the experiences and lessons withdrawn from previous practices.
As regards legislation, the Board has set a legislative plenary sitting on Monday, December 14th, 2020, that will be devoted to the examination and vote on the 2018 Liquidation Bill, the Government bill on creating the Mohammed VI Investment Fund, and the Government bill ratifying the decree-law on restructuring CASABLANCA FINANCE CITY.
Additionally, the Board reviewed the standing committees' work program and their pace, stressing the imperative of giving more attention to the parliamentary bills approved by the Government to enrich the legislative record and abide by the monthly sitting established by the Constitution.
