The Board of the House of Representatives held its weekly meeting under the chairmanship of the House’s Speaker Habib El Malki. The meeting’s agenda was devoted to the House’s action plan and its work prospects.
At the start of the meeting, the Speaker and the Board members recalled the contents of the Royal speech delivered on the occasion of opening the parliamentary session, expressing their great pride and consideration of the precautionary measures set by His Majesty during the opening of this session, and their high esteem for the position given by His Majesty, may God protect him, to the legislative institution by channeling the most important economic and social projects in favour of his loyal people through it.
Considering these profoundly meaningful messages, the House’s Speaker and its Board stressed the heavy responsibility of contributing to their success through the available constitutional mechanisms in control, legislation, and evaluation of public policies, in addition to the engagement of the House’s bodies in working to achieve their noble goals, namely the economic take-off, entrenching good governance, and the universal social coverage that is a profoundly meaningful historical leap that reflects national solidarity and preservation of human dignity and rights.
Regarding control, the Board discussed the monthly program of Ministries concerned with the weekly sittings for questions in November.
Concerning exploratory missions, the Board examined the request to lead an exploratory mission on hospitals' situation and their readiness to contain any epidemiological development and ability to provide health services.
About legislation, the Board noted the dynamic of work within standing committees in September, both in examining Government bills or as their bureaus defined the work plan of the session. The House’s Board also discussed the situation of parliamentary bills, which are around 210 bills, noting their importance and stressing the imperative of scheduling their examination following the provisions of the Rules of Procedure.
In implementation of the Constitution's provisions on the monthly sitting devoted to examining parliamentary bills, the Board has decided to communicate the matter to the Government and present it before the Panel of Chairs in its next meeting.
As part of implementing the high Royal directives included in the speech delivered on the Throne Day, the House’s Board has decided to organize a seminar on reforming the public sector with the participation of the various actors.
The initiative is part of the contribution of the House of Representatives to identify and redress the structural imbalances of public institutions and enterprises.
