The House of Representatives follows with interest and concern the latest developments in the Palestinian case, especially after the US President Donald Trump announced the US Peace Plan for the Middle East on January 28th, 2020, and the Palestinian, Arab, and international reactions that followed the announcement.
There have been several plans, attempts, and efforts to find a fair solution to the Palestinian case, and to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East. Following the said new plan, the House of Representatives can only confirm the Kingdom’s firm, outspoken and responsible stand on the Palestinian case. Our country, its King, government, and people have always stressed many fundamentals, namely peer-to-peer negotiations between Palestine and Israel as a possible and efficient way to reach a just and permanent solution to the conflict, a solution that complies with the relevant legitimate UN resolutions.
The House of Representatives would also like to reaffirm the special religious, spiritual and symbolic status of Al-Quds and the holy places it encloses, in line with “Al-Quds Call” signed by HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful may God protect him, and HH Pope Francis. The call stressed on the importance of pursuing a peace and fraternity-based future, and preserving the status of Al-Quds during the final discussions between the two parties, under international resolutions and criteria, and towards reaching an objective, realistic, implementable, permanent and just solution to the Palestinian case. The solution should meet the legitimate right of Palestinian people in building their independent, viable, and sovereign state whose capital is Al-Quds. The solution should also enable the Middle East to enjoy security, stability, peace, and a decent life.
